Deaconess Mary F. Jackson

Deaconess Mary Frances Lucas Jackson was born September 5, 1912 to the late Willie and Frances Lomax Lucas. She departed this life on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon George W. Jackson, Sr.; sons, Trustee George W. Jackson, Jr. and Walter Jackson; brothers Henry, James, Robert, Walter, Eugene, and Joe Lucas, and sisters, Elise and Ruth Lucas.
The family lived at A.P. Hill in Caroline County until the government took over the land. They moved to Spotsylvania, Virginia. She attended Mica School at A.P. Hill.
Mary joined the Old Bethlehem Baptist Church at A.P. Hill at an early age. She was a faithful member of the church and attended regularly until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She was a woman of great faith and her love for her fellowman was the epitome of Proverbs 31, a "Virtuous Woman". Mary had a heart of gold and love for those that she met. She not only raised her children, but her grandchildren and some of the great grandchildren along with other family and extended family members.
She was the mother of the church and a member of the Deaconess Ministry. She was not a member of the Missionary Ministry; however, she was a true Missionary at heart. She believed in helping everyone and she was one of the best cooks on this side of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
She was married to the late Deacon George W. Jackson, Sr. on August 19, 1931. To this union three sons and six daughters were born. She leaves to cherish her memory, Mary A. Rollins (Richard), Dorothy Marshall (Joseph), Susie Bell, Frances Lewis (Cecil), John Jackson, Ernestine Pendleton (Melvin); and Margaret Jordan (Edgar), her sister Mrs. Esther Beaver, and Three daughters in laws, Lucille Jackson; Nancy Jackson; and Vernell Jackson , sixty-three grandchildren, sixty-four great grandchildren, twenty-five great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
