Deaconess Mary Elizabeth Price

Deaconess Mary Elizabeth Price entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at her residence in Woodford, VA, surrounded by loved ones. On June 8, 1934, she was born to the late James and Nellie Mont in Woodford, VA. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age was baptized, and joined Third Mount Zion Baptist Church in Woodford, VA. She was a very active and faithful member, where she served as the President of Missionary Ministry for many years and was later ordained as a deaconess. She also was a member of the senior choir, served on the usher ministry and the hospitality committee.


Deaconess Price was married 53 years to Deacon James Fetcher Price, a devoted companion. She attended Caroline County Public Schools and graduated in 1952. She worked for the District of Columbia Government until retirement, and she also worked for the Caroline County Public Schools. Deaconess Price loved to travel in later years with her sister-in-law, Eva Cotton, sponsored by her nephew Cusic Cotton, Jr. She loved doing missionary work and planting flowers.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John Mont. Deaconess Price leaves to cherish her memory and will be sadly missed by her husband, Deacon James Price, her brother, Deacon Harry Mont (Marva) of Detroit, Michigan, her sisters, Martha Edwards (Luther, Sr.) of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Louise Mont-Adams of Broadnax, VA, Ellen Young-Carr (Lawrence) of New Jersey, sisters-in-law, Eva Cotton, Diane Mont, and Josephine Butler. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Her devoted niece Denise Collins and loving friends, Edward Waller, Phillip Shepherd, Carroll Waller, Gwen Stewart, Sandra Howard, Peter Parker, and Theresa Hardy.
