Mary Elizabeth Clark, formerly of King George County, passed away in Richmond, VA. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Addie Scranage of King George, VA. She was also predeceased by her husband, Frank; her daughter, Patricia Pannell; her sister, Clara Bland, and her brother, Edward Scranage.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her children: Frank E. Clark, II and his wife, Valerie of Richmond, Va., her daughter Lou Ann Epps and her husband Keith Epps of Fredericksburg, Va., her daughter Rosa Smith and her husband Durvell, of Ravena, NY.; twenty precious grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved and prayed for daily. Her beloved siblings: sister, Juanita Washington; her brother Perry Scranage, Sr.: her sisters Margie Bumbry; and Pansy Bumbry; two sisters-in-law Mary Bell; and Minerva Scranage and her best friend, Lenora Bland, all of King George, Va.; and a host of dear nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved ones, and friends.
Mary left large shoes to fill in being a Proverbs 31 woman. The most important decision in her life was giving her life to Jesus Christ early in life. Mary then devoted herself to being the best daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that she could be. Mary's passion was her walk with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the studying of His word. She loved reflecting and sharing His love through her everyday walk and with everyone she knew. She was a quiet, soft-spoken woman, but always had words of wisdom for anyone who asked. Although physically challenged with polio from the age of six months, Mary never allowed her disability to stop her from rising to many challenges, facing them with courage and overcoming life's difficulties. She often quoted the scripture "I can do ALL things through Christ Who strengthens me!"
One of Mary's best virtues was her gift of hospitality. She often welcomed people warmly into her home with a smile and delicious home-cooking; as a life-long member of Little Ark Baptist Church, Mary served as a Deaconess, Treasurer of the Pastor's Aide, Sunday school teacher and many other duties her hands found to do; she was also the Vice President of the Women's Aglow Fellowship- King George Chapter for which she served with joy for many years. She loved gardening, sewing, reading, knitting, and crocheting.
Mary's gentle, loving ways, her warm smile, and sweet laugh will be sorely missed, but forever remembered.
