Deaconess Jane Stepney Peyton

Deaconess Jane Stepney Peyton was born on December 26, 1930 to the late John and Rosie Stepney in King George, VA. She departed this life surrounded by her family on September 2, 2017. She was educated at Lambs Creek and Edgehill Public School System which later became Ralph Bunch High School. She was employed as a domestic worker and caregiver.
She joined First Baptist Church of Ambar at an early age. And she later received Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She served faithfully in the church in many ministries such as the Deacon Board, Senior Usher, Gospel Chorus, Missionary and Pastor Aide.

Deaconess Jane married the late George Irvin Peyton, Sr. on September 9, 1951. From this union God blessed them with five children: James, Rosie (deceased), George Jr., Barbara (Earnest) and Tracy. She was also blessed with eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

Deaconess Jane affectionately known as “Momma Jane”; loved her family and to go riding. She had a special gift to care for, nourish and teach children. Momma Jane would also cook and bake for the community. She was a humble, sweet and caring woman of God. She was genuinely affectionate towards people and gave them a kiss, a hug, and always a smile.
Deaconess Jane leaves to cherish her memories to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren; two sisters – Edith Burnett (John) and Maggie Brown (James), two sisters-in-law – Frances Peyton and Gertrude Stepney, one brother-in-law - Harrison Peyton, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the Comorn, Igo Go By, Cash Corner Community.
