Elwood, affectionately known as “Corky, Alex, or Bro El” to family and friends, was born on July 3, 1941 to Edward Willis Alexander and Rebecca Ellen Claiborne. He confessed his faith in God at an early age, was baptized, and became a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, in Woodford, Virginia where he would later serve as a Deacon. He was educated in the Caroline County school system. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. On November 28, 1968, Elwood was united in Holy Matrimony with Myra Elizabeth Taylor who preceded him in death. He made a career as a tractor trailer driver. He enjoyed relaxing in the park and taking road trips. Elwood was a wonderful husband, family man, friend and associate who will be remembered for his great humor. In addition to his spouse, Elwood was preceded in death by his son Damon Philip. He leaves treasured memories to his sons Eric (Kim) and LaMont (Lakesha), granddaughters Laila and LaChante and great granddaughter KaMyla, his surviving siblings, and a host of beloved family and friends.
