David A. Nelson

David Nelson was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia at Mary Washington Hospital on October 15, 1962 to Marguerite Armstead and the late Roscoe Nelson of Tappahannock, Virginia. He accepted Christ at an early and joined St. John Baptist Church, DeSha. He graduated from Essex High School in the Class of 1981.

While in high school, David enjoyed playing the instrument Tuba and was awarded many trophies, performing in the Essex High School band. David was a member of many organizations in high school. He was loved by so many people.

David worked at just about all the food markets in Essex County; the last employment at Food Lion in Tappahannock for 15 years until his health declined. He loved working at Food Lion, where he could interact with the customers. People loved him and he loved people. He thought of Food Lion associates as family. He was also known for his kind and helpful ways to any and every one. He was a BIG MAN with a BIG HEART!

David was a diehard Washington Redskin Fan and loved fishing. David was preceded in death by his Father, Roscoe Nelson and his brother Julius Dale Nelson.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a loving mother, Marguerite Nelson; 2 sisters Rosalind Terry Peterson (Melvin) of Richmond, Virginia and Wendy Gray (Everett) of Tappahannock, Virginia; 3 brothers, William Nelson (Alma) of Tappahannock, Virginia, Reginald Nelson (Norma) of Chester, Virginia and Tyrone Nelson of Chesterfield, Virginia; 2 aunts Mary Hardman of Laurel, Maryland and Margaret Henderson of Washington, D.C. and a host of nieces, nephews, two great nieces and cousins, a special long-time friend, Sharon Holmes and other close friends who will miss him, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
