Cyrus S Jackson, Sr.

A Time to Be Born
Cyrus Stonewall Jackson was born to Charles and Rosie B. Jackson on September 9, 1931.
A Time to Venture
Cyrus (Cy) joined the church under the leadership of the late Rev. George Carter. He was a faithful member of the Little Ark Baptist Church. He served on the Usher Board for over 50 years, and made himself available to anyone in need of assistance concerning church matters.
After graduating from Edgehill Training School, he was drafted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served two years. He then went on to serve 7 years in the Active Reserve. Later, Cyrus was employed at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA and retired with 35 years of service. His career and passion was in computer technology. Because Cy could not sit still after retirement, he went to work for several contractors in Dahlgren, VA. Cy was consistently active in the community; he was a dedicated Past Worshipful Master of King George Lodge #314 for several years and remained faithful to the organization for over 50 years. He was a member of the Fredericksburg Consistory Lodge #346 for over 25 years. He was Adjutant in the American Legion Post #329 for many years and remained a member of the organization for over 50 years. Cy was a member of the NAACP for many years. He was a proud recipient of many military honors and medals received while serving in the Korean War, United States Marine Corps.
Cyrus (Cy) was a sports advocate. He enjoyed bowling and bowled for many years on bowling leagues. Cy periodically attended the Baltimore Orioles baseball games in Baltimore, MD. Earlier in life, he thought himself as a superstar baseball player and played with the Dahlgren Frogs for many years. Most of all, his favorite hobby was that of a Photographer, taking pictures of family and friends and anyone else that would allow him to do so. Cy was not the best joke-teller. He brought much laughter to family and friends with his corny jokes. Some of his listeners never could get the punch line and never knew when to laugh.
A Time to Love
Cyrus was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary P. Jackson on June 3, 1952. On June 3, 2014, they celebrated 62 years of marriage. This union was blessed with 2 children. Cy was a loving husband and father to his family.
A Time to go Home
On Monday, January 19, 2015, at 5:30 PM, our Lord and Savior called Cyrus home to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers: Charles, Louis and Ervin Jackson, two sisters: Etta Allen and Katie Ashton.
