Curtis Ray Wise, son of the late Earl Northern Wise and Dorothy Payne Wise, was born in Montross, Virginia, on November 17, 1955. On Friday evening, April 26, 2002, God extended His Almighty Hand and took Brother Curtis Wise to a home of ultimate joy, peace and happiness.
He attended the public schools of Westmoreland County and was a graduate of Washington and Lee High School. Curtis and his sister were reared in a family where children were cherished and loved. Their welfare and well-being were always high priority.
Curtis accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and united with the Siloam Baptist Church. He attended Siloam Baptist regularly until he began his fellowship at Little Zion Baptist Church. He was an active participant in the Men’s Fellowship and a member of the Men’s Chorus.
On November 6, 1982, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Victoria Maxine Purce. To this happy union, two beautiful children were given, Derek and Shumeka. Curtis was a devoted and loving father and husband. He was interested and actively involved in all aspects of his children’s activities and made sure Christian Life was a family priority.
He was employed by H. Warshow & Sons in Tappahannock, Virginia, for more than 26 years. He held the position of Supervisor of the Slasher Department.
Man has many choices in life, Curtis in his pursuit of life, chose love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness. All because of Calvary, his soul has soared, for these are Christ-like principles for living here on earth. He enjoyed the love and respect of his family and friends. All who knew him found favor in his friendly manner and caring attitude.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Vicki, a loving son, Derek, and a precious daughter, Shumeka; one loving sister, Hope P. Wise of Montross; a mother-in-law, Garnet F.
