Clarence Louis Covington, affectionately known as "Dick" or "Nerve", was born on June 18, 1954 to the late Robert Covington and Fannie Giles Covington Blagmon. He transitioned into his heavenly life on September 26, 2011 at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital in Tappahannock, Virginia.
Dick was educated in the Essex County public school system. He became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church through baptism at an early age. In 1983 he was united in holy matrimony with Deborah "Debbie" Woodbury and to this union two sons was born.
Dick was a carpenter by trade, and was well known throughout the community for his craftsmanship. A pro at baseball, he played with the Supply All-Stars. He was also known for his kind and helpful ways to any and every one, at times helping everyone but himself. He loved spending his weekends at the race tracks with his sons.
Clarence is survived by his wife Debbie of Ruther Glen, Virginia; his sons Clarence Lamar Covington, Sr. (Alycia) of Ashland, Virginia and De'Andre Bernardo Covington of Ruther Glen, Virginia; his grandson Clarence Lamar Covington, Jr., his brother Bernard Covington (Rose) of Alexandria, Virginia, his sister Elsie R. Smith (Casey) of Thornburg, Virginia, his step-father Leonardus Blagmon and his step-mother Minister Gloria Gardner, his aunt Irene Jackson, godson Wayne Scott, 2 nieces; NaTashia and NaKita, 1 nephew; Nigel and a host of other relatives and friends who will all miss him tremendously.
