On February 21, 2025, Clarence Preston Jackson, “Bunny Honey,” quietly entered eternal rest with his Heavenly Father. He was born on July 24, 1926 to the late Charlie Jackson and Rosie B. (Johnson) Jackson of Dahlgren, VA. He attended the Edgehill Training School in King George County, VA. On August 2, 1947, he was united in marriage to the late Ida Mae Tyler of Dahlgren. With God’s Blessings, they had been happily married for 72 years until Ida’s passing. This union was Blessed with four daughters, Carolyn Milton, Shirley Jackson, Hazel Robinson and Sheila Jackson and two sons who preceded him in death, Willie and George Jackson. After a number of years of being married, they raised three grandchildren and one special great nephew.
Bunny joined Little Ark Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. George Carter. He joined the Usher Board after some time and remained a doorkeeper for the Lord for over 50 years, attending Church faithfully every Sunday until his illness prevented such. After retiring from ushering, he was made an honorary member of the Usher Board.
Bunny was a member of Guiding Star Chapter 216 (OES) and Past Master of King George Masonic Lodge 314 and a member for over 50 years. He was a member of Consistory #346 and a member of Magnus Temple #3. He was a member of American Legion Auxiliary 329 for 78 years and a lifetime member of King George’s NAACP and Ralph Bunche Alumni Association.
Bunny joined the U. S. Army in 1945 and was there until 1951. He was in World War II. He worked at the Dahlgren Naval Surface Warfare Center as a Machinist for 45 years until his retirement in 1989. During his working years, in his spare time he would repair TVs and radios.
Bunny’s hobbies were bowling, football and baseball. He loved traveling around to different states for bowling tournaments and did so with his bowling league. He was an avid bowler and even after having knee surgery he was still trying to bowl. He also traveled state to state with the Washington Commanders (formerly known as the Washington Redskins) to their away games. If the Redskins were losing, you could not talk to him. He loved family gatherings, laughing, talking and just having fun with family and friends. Bunny loved being called by his nickname “Bunny Honey” and had still been answering to “Bunny Honey” by his caregivers for the time that he spent at Westminster Lakeridge Facility. Bunny was a very kind and generous man. If he could help someone, he did so never responding “no or I cannot help”.
Bunny leaves to celebrate his homegoing, four daughters, Carolyn Milton, Shirley Jackson, Hazel Robinson, and Sheila Jackson. Two sisters; Barbara Richards, VA and Brenda Johnson, MD. Eight grandchildren: Jocelyn Ward (Jerome), MD; Andre’ Roach, MD; Petra Jackson, VA; Antonio Jordan (Latarshal), VA; Patrick Jackson, MD; Brenda Jackson-Pryor (Corey), VA; Tamika Randall, MD; Katrina Jackson, PA and Eric Jackson, VA and 10 great grandchildren and one great/great grandchild. One special daughter, Laurie Bland, special niece Phyllis Johnson and a special nephew Aaron Lewis. Godchildren Vivian Whiting and Bernard Harris (who preceded him in death). Four brothers, 3 sisters and two grandchildren preceded him in death. He also leaves 4 sisters-in-law, Inez Jackson, Mary Jackson and Irma Jackson, VA and Diane Scott, MD and one brother-in-law Joseph Toliver, OH. A host of nieces and nephews. A very special nephew Wendell Karl Allen who was more like a son to him.
To God be the Glory for the 98 years he was here with us.
