Charles Arthur Richards son of the late Richard and Lucy Richards was born on July 28, 1924 in Westmoreland County Virginia.
On May 10, 2015 he finished his earthly duties and peacefully slipped into a home of joy, peace, and happiness.
Arthur was educated in the Westmoreland County School System. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove Va. After making his home in Chester, PA, he united with Temple Baptist Church where he became an active and dedicated member. He served faithfully in the church and willingly worked where ever he was needed.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Anna Mae Newman Richards.
Arthur always carried himself in a dignified, humble, and soft spoken manner. He was caring, considerate, kind, even tempered, and slow to anger. His pleasant personality drew many friends to him.
Arthur was enlisted in the United States Army May 17, 1943. During his enlistment he earned many awards. He served as Sergeant to the Gun Crewman Medium Artiller 864. After receiving an Honorable Discharge on April 27, 1946, he was employed by General Steel for 20 years and Phoenix Steel for 36 years from which he retired.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a daughter, Martha Fontaine of Glendale, AZ; one son, Theodore Muse (Virginia) of Chester PA; one sister, Alberta Byrd of Colonial Beach, Va; two granddaughters, Yolanda Fortune of Phoenix AZ; Enez Muse of Elkton Md; one grandson, Leon Fontaine Jr. (Elissa) of Pheonix, AZ; five great grandchildren, Swanaya Staton of Phoenix AZ; Daris York of Danbury, CT; Desmin, Denondre, and Donavin Fontaine all of Phoenix, AZ; two great great granddaughters, Tyanna and Saryiah Staton both of Phoenix AZ; a special friend, Ernestine Boulware of Chester PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
