Charlena L. Harvey

Peacefully, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA., the Lord called our loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to her eternal home.

Charlena Letitia Harvey was born on February 27, 1976, to her parents, Diane Peyton and the late Shelton Whiting. Charlena accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Salem Baptist Church. She received her education in the King George County Public School System and graduated from King George High School.  Shortly after graduating she received professional training to become a cosmetologist.

Charlena was employed by McKesson’s Pharmaceutical Distribution supply chain for ten years. After employment with McKesson, Charlena explored a new career opportunity as a government contractor at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC). Her last employment assignment was at the Marine Corps Base Quantico, located in Quantico, Virginia.

Charlena truly loved and adored her family. The bond that she had with her husband, children, and grandson was one-of-a-kind. She shared a special bond with her son-in-law Tavon D. Baskerville, whom she loved as if he were her own biological son. She was very fond of her father- and mother-in-law Robert (Shinny) and Laura (Muff) Harvey. She made it known to everyone that they both had a very special place in her heart. When she would visit their home, she would always enter the house and ask:  “Where's mom and dad at?"

Charlena was a lover of life, she appreciated and embraced the little things, and valued spending quality time with her family. She never complained about her health, always smiling, remained positive, kept the faith and was the epitome of strength, love, and kindness. Charlena was always there for others, no matter what time of day. During her down time, she loved to crochet, she liked getting her hair and nails done, and had a passion for baking cakes and sharing them at family gatherings.

Charlena was preceded in death by her father Shelton Whiting. Charlena will forever be cherished and remembered by her husband of 26 years, Robert D. Harvey; three loving children:  Kieara (Tavon) Harvey, the twins Robert and Raejon Harvey; a special grandson whom she adored and loved, Tavon D. Baskerville, Jr.; her mother Diane Peyton; brothers:  Leon Peyton, Marvin Peyton, Gary Jackson, and Shelton Jackson; father-in-law Robert Harvey; mother-in-law Laura Harvey; three sisters-in-law:  Keisha (Reggie) Harvey, Katrina Harvey, and Kimberly Harvey; one brother-in-law Torrey Harvey, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
