Carroll Hawthrone Allen

Carroll Hawthorne Allen was born February 13, 1931 to Thomas and Mattie Allen in Hartwood, Virginia. He was the eighth child of 12 brothers and sisters. He departed this earthly journey on March 10, 2011 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Carroll was an honored veteran of the United States Marine Corp, during his enlistment he served in the Korean War. He worked in carpentry for many years, until he later retired as a union carpenter. He was a man of few words, a loving father and a good friend to all who knew him. In the community he was affectionately known as "POP POP".

He leaves to cherish is memory his wife Marian Allen, four children, Vanessa Allen; Stephanie Allen Hamn (Leonard); Michael Allen and Tracey Allen, five grandchildren, Jahmal; Aisha; and Raheem Hilton; Aneaka Allen; Ajali Gaines and one great-grandchild Kylah Hilton. Two sisters, Hattie Knight, and Carrie Pearson (Chester); one brother Roland Allen, In-laws, Gary and Joyce Mercer; Barbara Adams; Johnney Mercer; Chirs and Denise Mercer; Jamel and Rachel Perkins; Roshawn and Gwen Reid; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
