Carl Edward Young

Carl Edward “Shorty” Young, departed this life on April 16, 2019, after a short illness at his home in Newport News, Virginia at the age of 62. He was the son of Mary Young Williams and the late James Shelby Young. Carl attended and graduated from Bowling Green Senior High School in 1976 where he played baseball during his time there. Carl was baptized and joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age. Carl was employed as a farmer in his early life. Carl then went to work for many years in the Logging Business with Ronnie Seals, and later worked at the Chesapeake Company and Gillman’s Lumber Company.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Mary Williams, Step Father John Williams Sr., One brother John Williams Jr., Two aunts Virginia Berry, and Theola Fortune. Two uncles, Berkley Fortune, and James Pollard Sr. A special friend Cynthia Pemberton "Cookie" of Newport News, Virginia. A host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Carl was a caring and loving son. His phone calls every day will be sorely missed.

He bade no one a last farewell
He said goodbye to none
The heavenly gate just opened
And a beautiful voice said come
A heart of gold stopped beating
Two shining eyes at rest
God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best.

Sorrowfully Submitted,
The Family
