Burton Edward Carter Sr., son of the late Samuel and Nannie Carter was born February 27, 1915 in Caroline County. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 29, 2003 in the McGuire Hospital, Richmond Virginia. He was reared in a Christian home and joined the St. John Baptist Church at a very early age, where he served as a Trustee until his health failed. Burton received his education in the public schools of Caroline County. He later served in the United States Army Airforce. He was self-employeed for 16 years and later worked for D.A. Foster Gas Company in Merrifield, Virginia, where he retired in 1979. He was a member of Welcome Lodge #125 in Bowling Green, Virginia. He was united in holy matrimony on October 31, 1942 to Lelia Brown and to this union three children were born. He was preceded in death by his sister Edna Baylor and three brothers Ennis, Linwood, and Major Carter. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Lelia of the home. Two daughters, Mary Robinson, husband Horace. Sherita Young, husband Charles. One son Burton Carter Jr., wife Betty. Four grandchildren, Damien, Danielle, Darius, and Christopher. Two great grandchildren Ashley and Kyarian. Three sister-in-laws, one devoted Gloria Chatman, Cora Coates, and Audrey Brown. Three brother-in-laws, Carl Chatman, Walter Coates and Harvey Brown. A host of nieces, nephews, others relatives and friends.
