Brancis Juwan Pollard was born on July 19, 1941 in Caroline County, VA to the late Clarence Joseph and Emnell Ryland Fortune.
Early in life Brancis accepted Christ at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Later in life she renewed her commitment to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and served as pastor's aide and sang in the choir, she so loved to sing. In 1989 God gave Brancis a new calling, where she joined True Deliverance Church of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She continued to sing in the choir, taught children's Sunday school and was a Senior Missionary until her health began to fail her.
She attended Caroline County Public School where she graduated from Union High School in 1960. One year after graduating high school in March 18, 1961 Brancis was united in marriage to James L. Pollard Sr.(Brother) To this union, six children were born. She was a devoted mother, and loving grandmother, a beautiful sister and a kind aunt and would gladly share anything she had to help anyone in need.
She was employed at Best Products for ten years where she made many friends. She quit to stay at home to raise her grand-daughter and started a small daycare for a few friends who needed a child care provider.
In addition to her parents Brancis was preceded I death by her brother William Fortune and her daughter Karen Eloise Pollard.
Brancis leaves to cherish and honor her memory, her husband of fifty-three years, James L. Pollard Sr. ; two sons, James L. Pollard Jr. (Ernestine) of Spotsylvania, VA; Darrell M. Pollard (Leshawn) of Woodford, VA; Three daughters Sandra N. Sawyer (Darrell), Regina C. Pollard, Cheryl Y Thomas (Duncan) all of Ruther Glen, VA; A devoted granddaughter, Brancis J. Pollard of Ruther Glen, VA; devoted step daughter, Maria Harrell of Sandston, VA; seven granddaughters, five grandsons, three great-grandchildren; One brother, Berkley Fortune (Virginia) of Newtown, Va; three sisters, Mary Williams (John) of Milford, VA, Virginia Berry (Dupont), Theola Fortune all of Sparta, Va, Two sisters-in-law, Teresa Pollard Perkins of Newtown, Va, Joan Johnson (Percell) of MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
