Bettie Lou Peyton

On Thursday, July 2, 2009, Bettie Lou Peyton entered into eternal rest after an extended illness at the Westmoreland Rehabilitation and Health Care in Colonial Beach, Virginia.

She was born to the late Charles H. and Fannie E. Peyton on July 20, 1935 in King George, Virginia. She accepted Christ and joined Good Hope Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Lloyd Watts, where she served faithfully on the President of the Goodwill Gospel Chorus, Nurse's Unit, Director of the Choraleers, Culinary Committe, Missionary President, Usher member and a member of the Flower Club until her health began to decline.

She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Donald Maurice Peyton Sr. on January 6, 1951. From this union eleven children were born. She enjoyed cooking, singing, doing God's work and helping anybody that needed help.

She retired from Lee Contractor Cleaning Service in 1997, after which she spent her time being a devoted mother, loving grandmother, being a faithful servant for the Lord and being there for anybody who needed her help, until the Lord called her home.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Five sons Donald Jr., Sterling (Harriet), Charles, William (Val), and Joe (Carina). Six Daughters: Violet (Eddie), Emma, Phyllistine, Brenda (Carroll), Bertha (Wendell) and Ruby (Avon). One sister Rosie, two brothers James (Lily), Henry Wilison who preceded her in death. Four sisters-in-law Lou (Maurice), Eloise, Mildred, and Ann. Twenty-Four grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, special friends Mia Diggs, Betty Thompson, Hazel Fields, and Nurse Ruthie Finklin and special friend and riding partner, Elizabeth Peyton.
