Bernard was employed by the United States Senate for over 35yrs; where he was a trusted, valued, and loyal employee. He received many commendations for excellence of service and duties. He also received certificates from The Architect of the Capitol for grateful appreciation of 36yrs of devoted Federal Service. He loved working on the "HILL" until he retired. Bernard also worked at the Caroline County Convenient site for over 15yrs after his retirement. He worked there until just days before his departure. He loved working and staying busy. He also appreciated being outdoors, planting, fishing, farming & raising livestock. His love and time spent with Ruth, family and friends was immeasurable. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in March 1957.
