We gather today to celebration the homegoing of Bernard Williams, born April 9, 1936 in Washington, District of Columbia. He was educated in the District of Columbia and spent most of his life there until 1980. He moved to Woodford, Virginia where he resided until his departure on Saturday, January 19, 2013.

Bernard was employed by the United States Senate for over 35yrs; where he was a trusted, valued, and loyal employee. He received many commendations for excellence of service and duties. He also received certificates from The Architect of the Capitol for grateful appreciation of 36yrs of devoted Federal Service. He loved working on the "HILL" until he retired. Bernard also worked at the Caroline County Convenient site for over 15yrs after his retirement. He worked there until just days before his departure. He loved working and staying busy. He also appreciated being outdoors, planting, fishing, farming & raising livestock. His love and time spent with Ruth, family and friends was immeasurable. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in March 1957.

Bernard joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church in November 2001 and was a member for over 10yrs. He loved debating and studying the Bible. At 10:01pm, "Bern" peacefully slipped away from us and entered the loving arms of his Lord and Savior.

"Tennessee or Juggy," as he was affectionately known was greatly loved by many. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Ruth; 3 brothers, George Williams, John Williams, Leonard Williams; 4 sisters, Lula Reeves, Helen Scott, Thelma Sams, Ruby Ross; 2 sisters-in-law, Laverne Williams and Audrey Williams; 2 adopted grandchildren, Mecaylan and Tyrell; brother, Howard Williams who preceded him in death, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Bern you will be greatly missed as you are greatly loved. Rest in peace!
