Life Reflections
Bernard Chester Freeman was born on September 8, 1946 in Balty, Virginia. He was one out of eight children born to Mr. Lloyd & Virginia Freeman. Bernard quietly answered God's call and departed his life in a peaceful manner in his sleep.
Bernard accepted Christ at an earlier age and was baptized. As a active member at St. John Baptist Church, he served as a trustee, on the usher board, and President of the Men's Chorus. He was a dedicated Christian and attended church regularly. His heart's desire was to return to church first Sunday in August, but God had other plans for him.
He was united in holy matrimony to Faye W. Freeman. This union was blessed with two devoted children, Kenneth and Keisha. He was blessed to have a devoted daughter-in-law, Sandra Freeman, whom he respected like a daughter. He did everything and anything he could for all three of them.
Bernard retired in 2009 from the Naval Surface Welfare Center in Dahlgren, Virginia where he worked 30 years. He loved to farm, ride on his tractors, ride on his combine, and drive his latest toy, a blue farm truck. One of his greatest joys was pushing snow in King George, where he could work with Kenneth. After retiring he loved to get up early and ride with Kenny in the dump truck. When Kenny fueled up Bernard looked forward to snacks that Kenny would bring back to the truck before heading back up the road . He loved God, enjoyed life, and enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. He also cared about giving to people and loved to visit the sick.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Faye, whom he was married to for forty- one years. A son, Kenneth (Sandra) Freeman of King George, Va.; a daughter, Keisha Faye Freeman of Ruther Glen, Va.; three brothers, Robert Freeman of Texas; Raymond Freeman of Doswell, Va.; Thomas Freeman of Ruther Glen , Va.; three sisters, Myrtle Fortune(Lucius) of Ruther Glen, Va.; Delores Freeman of Washington D.C.; and Gloria Freeman of Ruther Glen, Va.; a devoted mother-in-law, Rebecca J. Wooden and a sister-in-law, Gabriella Clarke of Deniron, Va.
Bernard was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Freeman; his mother, Virginia Freeman; a sister, Dorothy Harmon; a father-in-law, Lacy L. Wooden; and the next day after his death a devoted daughter-in-law Sandy Freeman.
Bernard and Sandy, only God knows why he took you both. WE LOVE YOU DEARLY!!
