On December 27, 2016 a husband, father and grandfather, Arthur Louis Myers stepped across the threshold that we call death, but it was only to step into another room. A room of our Father's house.
Born in Caroline County, on March 26, 1931 to the late Elsie Myers Lee and Harry Latney Lee. Arthur attended and graduated from Essex County Training School. Upon graduation he was drafted into the United States Army, for two years. After being discharged from the military, he gained employment with Dahlgren Naval Base. He later went to work as a steel worker for Rodman Union Local 201 in Washington, D.C., where he retired. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and realized there was work he could do, so he joined the Ushers Ministry, Laymon Brothers Ministry, Mens Ministry, Male Chorus, and was appointed Treasurer of Trustee Ministry. He was a hard worker, giver, advisor of the church until his health began to decline. Arthur loved family especially cookouts, reunions, and softball games.
On November 24, 1954 he was united in holy matrimony to Nancy Brown and to this union five children were born to cherish his memories one son; Gregory Myers of Fredericksburg; four daughters: Sandra Southerland of Temple Hill, Md., Diane Myers, Marilyn Myers, Lisa Drumgole (Larry) all of Rappahannock Academy and also a granddaughter he raised, Latoya Renee' (Johnathon) of Dimondale, Michigan; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers: James Myers of Fort Washington, Md. and Will Roger Lee of Loretta; four sisters: Fannie Lee of King George, Ruth Lee of Port Royal, Dorothy Lee of Cheltenham, Md., Elsie Samuel (Leon) of Hustle; two brother-in-laws: Richard Brown, Charles Brown (Virginia) and three sister-in-laws: Helen Brown, Ann Cole (William) both of Rappahannock Academy and Sherry Lee of Niagara Falls, NY.; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
