Arnold L. Childs, known to many as ''knocker'', was born December 22, 1946 to the late Julian and Bertie Childs in Caroline County. On Saturday, August 10, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon, Arnold entered into a peaceful sleep at the Bowling Green Health Care Center after a long illness. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the St. James Baptist Church, Milford, Virginia. Arnold received his education in the public schools of Caroline County. He was a former employee of the Caroline County School System in the maintenance department as a laborer. Arnold was a friend to many. He was known for his joking ways, his big smile, and he loved to have a good time with his family and friends. He was always willing to help someone when they were in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers. He leaves to cherish his memory, one brother, John of Bowling Green; two sisters, Alva Totten of Bowling Green and Julie H. Freeman of Milford; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Carter and Debra Childs both of Bowling Green; three brothers-in-law, James Totten of Bowling Green, Wesley Freeman of Milford, and Romeo McKeaver of Durham, NC; one aunt, Edna Childs of Washington, D.C.; two special cousins, Ruth Gray of Milford and Mary Childs of Washington, D.C.; a devoted friend, Marjorie Peatross and children of Bowling Green and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and many friends.
