Antonio Bruce Clatterbuck

On Sunday, Feb 7th, 2021, while in heaven, the late Elsie and James Clatterbuck whispered into Jesus’ ear and said “My Lord, it’s time to bring our child, Antonio Bruce Clatterbuck on home so that we can take care of him, so he won’t suffer no more from Liver disease, back pains, anxieties, lonely days and nights, traumas from life situations or his childhood."
Affectionately known to his family and friends as “Big T, Big Boy and Tony”, he was born in King George County, Virginia on May 3rd, 1956; the second son of the late James and Elsie Clatterbuck. Rodney, Delphine, and Tracy Clatterbuck preceded him in death.

He attended the King George County school system, and later served his country starting January 1977 as an active member of the U.S. Army and retired as a Sergeant of the Regular Army on August 1st, 1988. He studied numerous courses in the Army including: Installation Security; Nuclear, Biological, & Radiological and Technical courses.
Tony was like a father, big brother, mentor and Godfather to many young kids, adults and others in Kansas, Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. He helped “everyone” both spiritually and financially, always reaching into his heart and pocket to do something for someone else in order for their lives to be successful and for them to move on up a little higher in life. He would provide temporary housing to folks who met unfortunate situations, giving them a hand up instead of always giving a hand-out. He would give young kids rides back and forth to their college dorms to ensure they were meeting their requirements to continue their education, and he would buy and fix up used cars to try and offer deals to help folks have transportation.

Everybody loved Tony because he was straightforward, but forgiving; giving and needing nurturing; a comedian, carefree, and an overall fun-loving person. He was also a big sports, and movie fan and loved watching tv in his big chair.
Tony loved writing poetry and traveling. One of his favorite poems is:

“Letting Go”
Can I go on living in the past
Just holding on to the memories and hoping they will pass.

Should I let go of pastime dreaming?
Will I be able to attract a new light ever so gleaming?

Feeling a different glow of joy in my hearts fire.
Letting go and taking life’s dreams a little higher.
As I close my eyes and focus on a new beginning,
I’m letting go of it and living for only happy endings.
Those left to cherish his memories are two brothers, Eric Clatterbuck of Temple Hills, MD, and William Augustus (Gus) Howard of King George, Va.; two nephews, Andre’ Scott of Fredericksburg, Va., and Eric Reese Clatterbuck of Dale City, Va; adopted children: Leif and Desiree Hansen of Newport News, Va., Sven Hansen of Leavenworth Ks., and Sean Hansen of Hagerstown Md.; one Great nephew, Alijah Scott of Fredericksburg, Va.; several cousins that checked-in on him: Donald and Justina Jackson, and Roland White of King George, Va., Anthony Minter of Caroline County, Va., Marilyn Davis of Woodbridge, Va., Thomas Brown of King George, Va., Sharon White of King George, Va., Shamina, Shanitra, and Shionte Jackson of King George, Va., Alberta Minter of Prince Georges County, Md., Linda Clarke of McDonouh, Ga., Deborah Taylor of Spotsylvania, Va., Greg and Kim Johnson of Washington, D.C., Judith Collins, Beatrice Harrison, Johnice Coffee and Deirdra Dorsey all of Philadelphia Pa.; several friends that checked-in on him: Hardy Mervilus of King George, Va., Charles White of King George, Va., Larry Smith of King George, Va., Jerry Dodd of Northumberland, Va., Leo White of Spotsylvania, Va., John Cattlett and Ada Smith of Westmoreland, Va., and Diane Newman of Waldorf, Md; Uncles and Aunts that checked-in on him: Andrew Williams of King George, Va., Helen Minter-Payton of Caroline County, Va., Iola Johnson of Washington, D.C., other special relatives and special friends.
