Annie Elizabeth Garnett was born November 24, 1933, to the late William Frank and Lue Ella Garnett. She was the oldest of three sisters. Annie accepted the Lord and joined Salem Baptist Church, King George, VA at an early age. She was baptized at Port Royal River, Port Royal, VA. After residing to Arlington, VA, she joined Mt. Salvation Baptist Church, Arlington, VA, as a Watch Care member.
Annie dedicated her life to Christ; she was a member of the Gospel Choir of Mt. Salvation Baptist Church and took pride in cleaning the church. Nothing was out of order when it came to the kitchen and the Pastor’s study which was immaculate. Annie was truly a faithful servant and reverenced the Lord and His house of worship. She would often say to those who dedicated their life to Christ. “Don’t play with the Lord”.
Due to her health, she was unable to attend services on a regular basis and often would say. “I need to go to church,” it was always in her heart. Deacon William Johnson always held a special place in Annie’s heart and she always acknowledged William Johnson as “This is Deacon Johnson.”
She peacefully departed this earthly life on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, at Cherrydale Health & Rehabilitation Center, Arlington, VA.
Annie looked forward to Christmas, baking all night her homemade chocolate chip cookies for her nephews and nieces. We all made sure we got our cookies. What a treat! Those cookies will truly be missed, NO one could bake those homemade chocolate chip cookies like Aunt Annie. Her hobby was taking pictures with her favorite Polaroid camera.
Annie was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, James Coleman (Alice), Gilbert McCormick, Sr. (Hattie) and Russell Mason, Sr. (Shirley).
Annie leaves to cherish her memories three sisters: Mary Alice Coleman (Woodbridge, VA), Hattie McCormick (Arlington, VA) and Shirley Mason (Woodbridge, VA); one aunt Fannie Lee Johnson (King George, VA); and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
