Annette Mattie Brown

Annette was born January 20, 1940 to the late Randolph and Daisy Johnson in Westmoreland County, Va. She was the youngest of nine Siblings.
Annette accepted Christ at an early age and joined New Monrovia Baptist Church. In her Adult life she started attending Good Hope Baptist Church beside her husband, Robert C. Brown

Annette Mattie Johnson-Brown was a Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Cosmetologist, Sorority Sister, Minister/Chapin, Friend, Counselor, educator, author and a world traveler.
Annette was educated in Westmoreland County and finished at A.T. Johnson High School, while attending different high schools she met the love of her life and then married Robert C. Brown, from this union four children were born.
After moving to the State of Illinois where she study and graduated from The Hermons School of hair, A Professional Academy of Cosmetology and became a licensed cosmetologist. She loved her craft so much that she decided to further her education and become a certified instructor and taught in the Alexandria Public School System at Minnie Howard Vocational Center for many years.
Annette received her Bachelor of Arts, MBA and Doctoral in 1993 for cosmetology from the University of Chicago. She also had the honor of owning and operating Beauty Salons for decades on military installations in the Washington metropolitan area. Her willingness to stay successful she often traveled to beauty culture seminars, hair shows and other artistic events.
Annette retired after 52 years as a cosmetology, she continued to pursue her passion for our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Annette loved the Lord so much she enrolled and attended Biblical Theology at Howard University (School of Divinity) in Washington, DC. where she earned her Associate Degree and also attended the National Bible College and Seminary in Fort Washington, MD. Where she received her Doctor of Ministry in (Theology). Annette was ordained as a Minister thru Mutual Baptist Missionary Association Inc. of Washington, DC. She also was an Author, she wrote a book tidal "The Three Greatest" (The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit Equaling One)
Where ever Annette went, she would light up the room with her big beautiful smile and was willing to help where needed. She loved to sing, play the piano, travel, cook, do hair, talk and spend time with her family and friends. Annette would not pass up an opportunity for a gathering to celebrate any occasion.
Most of all she served and loved her lord and savior in every area of her life, she had a pure heart, she was loving, kind, compassionate, caring, and giving. She never judged, but always saw the best in people.

Annette was preceded in death by six siblings: Charles, Margaret (Gaga), Eric, Maurice, Willard and Calvin.
Annette leaves to cherish her memories, Her husband of nearly 59 years Robert C Brown, of Fort Washington, MD.,
Four Children: Mark E. Brown of Colonial Beach, Va., Jennifer A. Brown-Bennett and husband Ernest of Landover, MD., Jeffery R. Brown and wife Genevieve of Fairfax, VA., and Wanda (Katrina) Brown of Fort Washington, MD. And Fiance' Darryl D. Washington of Washington, D.C.
Ten Grandchildren: Krysten, Markeda, Matthew, Jeffrey, Robert, Kevin, Tanijah, Elijah, Dara, and Lyndey
Five Great Grandchildren: Isaiah, Myaira, Makya, Kamya, Genesis and one on his way.
Several Close family friends: Karen Moore, of Alexandria, VA. and Debbie Lewis, of Reynoldsburg, OH. Who will always be a part of this family.
Two surviving sister: Carasile McDowney and husband Harry, Bessie McDowney and husband Johnnie both of Colonial Beach, VA.
Four Sisters-in-Law: Mary V. Ashton of King George, VA., Nancy Brown of Philadelphia, PA., Gale Brown of Chester, PA., and Margaret (Princess) Brown of Chester, PA.
Three Brothers-in-Law: Bernard Lucas of King George, VA., Jerome Brown Jr. and wife Cora of Wilmington, Del., and Dennis Brown of Statesville, NC.
A special acknowledgement to her niece June Edwards of Upper Marlboro, MD. for being a helping hand to her "Aunt Boo"
And a host of nieces, nephew, relatives, special friends and one God Mother Olivet Peyton of Colonial Beach, VA.
