Alice Johnson answered the Master's call on Friday evening April 29, 2011 at 9:40 P.M. at her home in Dahlgren, Virginia.
Alice was given by God to Joseph and Annie Garnett near Bowling Green, Virginia on November 2, 1917.
Alice grew up in a God fearing family, and at a young age, she joined the Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Royal, Virginia; where her father Joseph served as a Deacon.
In the year of 1947, Alice was joined in marriage to James Johnson of Dahlgren. Soon thereafter they ventured in a business called the Blue Note Grill. There Alice and her sister-in-law Bertha Lewis ran the business, cooking lunches and dinners that everyone in the community loved.
Soon after marriage, Alice joined the Little Ark Baptist Church; where her husband James was a member. Alice loved her church and always had concerns for the church family. After she became unable to attend, she would take great pleasure in receiving the Sunday Bulletin that was delivered faithfully by, Chester Lewis this gave her a continued connection with her church.
Alice leaves to cherish her memory three children, William Morton of Burke, Virginia; Margaret Johnson, son-in-law Frezell Johnson both of Warfield, Virginia; and James Earl Morton of Mount Holly, New Jersey. She also leaves two sisters-in-law Leitha Phillips of St. Mary's, Maryland and Louella Garnett of Arlington, Virginia, 2 nephews, Eddie Garnett of Arlington, Virginia; and James Harris of Dover, Delaware, and a host of nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren also to cherish her memory.
Mom our Heavenly Father knew your struggle and pain. He saw the demonstration of your faith and decided to call you home. We realize by our faith in Jesus that this is not goodbye. We know that we will see you again in that Great Morning, when the might trumpet shall sound. So long mom; just for a short while.
