God in His infinite wisdom and divine love called Alfred from our midst, on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond, VA
Al, as he was affectionately called, was born to the late Alfred and Louise Holliman of Franklin, VA on August 1, 1945. He spent his early childhood in Franklin, VA and received his elementary and high school education there. He graduated from Hayden High School.
After high school he joined the U.S. Army for two years and served a tour of duty in Vietnam.
After leaving the military, Al moved to Washington, DC and began working for the District of Columbia Government. He worked for 30 plus year.
After his retirement from the DC government, Al worked as a driver for VanGo in Waldorf, MD until his health started to fail.
December 18, 1976 he married Frances Johnson and moved to Waldorf, MD
In the early 90's Al and Frances moved to King George, and he served as a volunteer for the Dahlgren Rescue Squad, was a member the American Legion Auxiliary Post #329 and a Charter member of Project Faith.
He joined Little Ark Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. John W, Chapman in the mid-70's. While at LABC he served on the Diaconate, Pastor's Aid, Culinary, Transportation, Children's Church and the B.U.M.S. (Brothers United Moving in the Spirit) ministries.
In his spiritual growth, the Lord led him to serve at Restoration Worship Center under the leadership of Rev. Perry L. Scranage, Jr. He was a faithful member there until God called him home.
To rejoice and cherish his precious memories are his devoted wife, Frances Holliman, six daughters Stephanie (Kenny) Rice of Ft. Washington, MD, Lynn (Wes) Reed of Norfolk, VA, Yvette Holmes of Woodbridge, VA, Sandra Bowser of North Carolina, Renee'(Bruce) Rayes of Las Vegas, NV, and Cassandra Norris of Ruther Glen, VA; two sons, Tracey Holliman and Keith Johnson(who preceded him in death on March 17, 2015) three sisters, Albertine (John) Blackett of Chesapeake, VA, Camilla Ashby of Portsmouth, VA, and Arlene Chavis of Norfolk, VA; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Caring Goddaughter, Anitra Pollard-Martin of Colonial Beach, VA. Two special caregivers Debra Carmody and Denise Peyton Johnson.
