Mrs. Alease P. Crews, daughter of the late Rev. Augustus B. and Charlotte Pollard was born on April 18th, 1906 in Bowling Green, Va. Her father was one of the founding ministers of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Newtown, Va. She went to school there and was also tutored by her mother, a school teacher. After graduation, she took post graduate courses at Dunbar High School in Washington, D. C. She married McCoy Crews in 1936. They later divorced. Mrs Crews retired from the Government Printing Office after thirty four years of service. Being a faithful member of Florida Avenue Baptist Church since 1922, she belonged to the Nurses Unit, Gospel Choir, Birthday Circle and the Women's Club. She also was a dedicated member of the Century Club of the National Association of Negro Business Women's Club, Inc. and Howard University Women's Auxiliary.
In 2001, Mrs. Crews moved to Independence Court of Hyattsville, Md. There she celebrated her 95th birthday. Rev. and Mrs. Trent attended, plus her Church family and friends. This made her very happy. She was the last of a family of eleven children.
Surviving her is one niece, Charolotte Anne Burkett of Philadelphia, Pa. and many family members, two goddaughters, and friends.
