Adlena Smith

Adlena Johnson Smith, affectionately known as "Lena" went home to be with the Lord at her residence on Thursday, March 6, 2014.

On November 22, 1923, Lena was the third oldest of thirteen children born to the late James Henry and Alice Brooks Johnson. At an early age, Lena gave her life to Christ at Ebenezer Baptist Church in, Supply Virginia. For many years, she was employed at the Tomato Factory in Champlain, Virginia.

Lena celebrated her 30th birthday with the birth of her only child, Richard Johnson. In her later years, she was joined in holy matrimony to Edward Smith.

Lena LOVED her family, enjoyed ALL family gatherings and good food--especially fish, black eyed peas and biscuits from Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Her memory will be cherished by her son, Richard (Cheriese); two grandchildren, Corrie Beasley (Stacy) of Spotsylvania, Virginia and Richard II of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Layla Beasley; two sisters, Mary Garnett of King George, Virignia and Esther "Reba" Holmes of Supply, Virginia; one brother, James Johnson (Maggie) of Champlain, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, a host of beloved friends and a devoted and dedicated nurse and caregiver, her niece Donna Ware.
