Addie Mae Turner

Addie Mae Turner departed this life on Tuesday February 5, 2019 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was born on April 1, 1923 to the late Mamie Johnson and James Tibbs. Addie Mae was united in Holy Matrimony to the late George Turner (Colonial Beach).
Addie Mae accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Monrovia Baptist Church, Colonial Beach under the leadership of the late Rev. George Carter. Addie Mae served her church faithfully as the President of the choir and Usher Board for many years, and was always willing to do whatever she could for each ministry.
Addie Mae's formal education was received in Westmoreland County Public School. She was employed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA until retirement. Some of her hobbies included working in her yard, planting flowers and sitting on her porch enjoying family and friends, laughing and joking and praising the Lord. Addie Mae also enjoyed singing with the Spiritual Chorus at her church, singing her favorite songs “Walk Right Out”, and “I know the man said”.
Addie Mae preceded in death by her husband George Turner; her parents Mamie Johnson and James Tibbs; sister Abbie Jones; William Johnson and Theodore Johnson, and daughter Hazel Hopewoll.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories two daughters Maxine Smith (King George), Jean Wilson (Washington D.C), two sisters Rose Pierce (Colonial Beach), and DianeJohnson (Colonial Beach), two God Children Ann Bumbrey and John Hopewell and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
