Abraham Mcdowney

Abraham McDowney entered into eternal rest on Sunday September 3, 2017 at the United Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

He was born September 2, 1940 to the late Wesley McDowney, Sr. and Gertrude Mason McDowney in Maple Grove, VA. “Stimmie”, as he was graciously know by family and friends, was the surviving twin and the eleventh of sixteen siblings. As a young child he was introduced to our Lord and Savior by his parents and he loved the Lord.

In the year 1962 “Stimmie”, was united in holy matrimony to his wife Yvonne Purce of Oak Grove, Va. After their marriage; they moved to Washington, D.C., where he resided until his death.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Yvonne and his siblings: Mary Alice, Curtis, Isabelle, Wesley, Yvonne “Boney”, Charles, Drake, Walter, Emmanuel, Little Gertie and his twin Abe.

He is survived by his brothers: Andrew McDowney, Rev. Welford McDowney both of Colonial Beach, VA and Clarance of Washington D.C., sister, Mary Simms of Upper Marlboro, MD four sister-in-law, Louise, Elizabeth, Beulah and Virginia all of Colonial Beach, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
